Meet Our Founder
Hello there,
You might wonder how I got so passionate about sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.
Well, the seeds of sustainability were sown in my heart long before I even realized it. It all began when I was quite young . I often find myself pondering how this consciousness came to be, especially when no one in my family shared the same fervor for sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. It seems like this journey was a destiny of its own. From as early as I can remember, I was deeply concerned about the thought of people wasting water. The act of watching a tap left running while soap was applied or hearing excuses for leaving it on unnecessarily always gnawed at me. These simple actions, or rather inactions, seemed to symbolize a larger issue—the heedless exploitation of our precious resources.
My concern for water conservation and the environment remained steadfast through my early years. I couldn’t help but feel a profound sadness when I came across news of water shortages and the looming specter of scarcity. I constantly wondered about the fate of our world if we continued on this unsustainable path.
It was during these moments of reflection that a profound realization struck me. I understood that to make a real difference, I needed the power to effect change. With this purpose in mind, I embarked on the arduous journey of preparing for the UPSC exams, aiming to join the civil services and contribute to transforming society for the better. However, luck didn’t seem to favor my aspirations, and I found myself disheartened.
Then, fate intervened in a way that reshaped my life’s purpose. My nephew, just a few months old, was struggling to breathe in the polluted air of Delhi. The doctors delivered a statement—if his condition didn’t improve within two days, he would have to be hospitalized. The thought of that innocent child struggling for breath haunted me. I could not sleep crying & praying for his recovery and thinking about the countless other children who lacked proper shelter or financial resources to seek medical care. How would they cope with such dire circumstances?
In the midst of my emotional turmoil, I stumbled upon a simple yet profound phrase: “Never forget why you started.” This quote rekindled the fire within me and pushed me to introspect. I had embarked on my UPSC journey to gain the power to bring about change, but it occurred to me that change must begin from within.
Before attempting to change others, I needed to change myself. It was time to translate my concerns and beliefs into tangible action. In 2022, I founded Jaevindia, a brand committed to minimizing waste and its environmental impact. I made it my mission to ensure that none of our products would be packed or delivered in plastic—a material that had once promised convenience but had since become a global menace, choking our planet.
Our journey began with bioenzymes and handmade soaps, products designed with both the consumer and the environment in mind. Bioenzymes, in particular, held the power to address numerous human ailments and, perhaps most crucially, purify water resources. A staggering 80% of the illnesses plaguing humanity can be traced back to contaminated water.
As our journey continued, we expanded our product range to include soy wax candles scented with essential oils. Each addition to our line was carefully chosen for its impact on both the consumer and the world we all share.
But Jaevindia isn’t just about products. It’s about a holistic approach to sustainability. I began my own journey of composting, drawing knowledge from various sources and attending classes to tackle the pressing issue of waste management. A staggering 60% of our waste consists of kitchen’s wet waste, which emits harmful methane when improperly disposed of. It’s a responsibility we all share—our waste is our responsibility.
Composting, I discovered, is not just a practical solution but also a therapeutic one. The rich compost that emerges from the process acts as a balm for depleted soil, rejuvenating it and enhancing its fertility. It’s worth noting that we have a mere 50 years left of soil that can support our food production. After that, it will become sterile, compounding the already dire problem of food scarcity.
Through Jaevindia, I aim to inspire change, one sustainable choice at a time. I hope you’ll join me on this journey towards a low-waste life, for the sake of our planet and the generations yet to come.
Thank you for being a part of this endeavor.
