Sustainability for the whole family - Part 6

Green Travel

Build a new habit and walk as many short distances as you can. The more you walk the more carbon you’ll save and it’s great for your health too. Why not combine it with a fun family outing! Or if you don’t currently walk to school & it is close enough, why not start walking once or twice next week. The same goes for riding bikes, for distances that are a little further away.

If you are planning a day out that you would usually drive, consider taking public transport. Children often find buses and trains exciting and it gives you an opportunity to teach them about maps and schedules.

One for the parents: Idling create carbon emissions and air pollution so next time you are waiting in your car, whether it be outside the school or shops try turning your engine off to stop harmful particulates being released into the air.
