Using less energy
Develop a daily routine with your children to unplug electronics that are not in use, such as chargers, TVs, laptops and game consoles, as they all use power when left on standby. Use power strips for multiple devices, this makes it easier to control multiple electronics at once.
Try to get into a habit of turning the lights off when you don’t need them. Turning lights off in empty rooms is a simple and easy way to save energy and reduce electricity bills. Maybe create a checklist together of devices and lights to turn off. This helps children understand where energy can be saved.
Designate one hour each week as a “power-free” time where the whole family participates in activities that don’t require electricity. Play board games, read books, or enjoy outdoor activities together.
